Instrument – making is a branch of science and technology, including the field of electronics and microprocessor technology, the military-industrial industry, transport and communications, rural and communal services, education and consumption, engaged in the development and production of measuring instruments, information processing and presentation, automatic and automated control systems ..
The main direction in the development of instrument engineering is a measuring technique, consisting of methods and instruments for measuring mechanical, electrical, magnetic, thermal, optical, and other physical quantities. Measuring instruments together with automatic controllers and with executive devices form the technical base of automated process control systems (APCS).
Modern directions of instrument making include the use of the newest developments of artificial intelligence and machine learning, coupled with electronic, mechatronic and robotics tools allow to increase the efficiency of work many times, in comparison with traditional methods, solutions to common problems in various industries.

Teaching Methodology
Prior to the 2010/11 academic year, the software simulators of real equipment were used in the disciplines of electronics and microprocessor technology. From 2011/12 academic years, mainly hardware and software complexes of electronic equipment are used, such as the “Laboratory complex based on the microcontroller ATMega *” firm Atmel, industrial controllers Simatic 314A with 12 types of virtual models of real technological processes, signal processors MSP430 * ( Texas Instruments). Innovative methods of teaching on this technique, which appeared on the Kazakhstan market only in recent years, are reflected in lectures, syllabuses, scientific projects of students.
Students participating in the events each year are the winners of the University and the Republican SRWS (research work of students) participate in regular work of the scientific circle for “Design and construction of electronic devices,” in the annual Republican student subject Olympiad on specialty at international scientific conferences, seminars and competitions. They have awards, diplomas and successfully implemented start-ups. Students 2nd and 3rd course of the specialty “5V071600-Instrument” in the SRWS developed and implemented the following projects: “Smart Glove with sign language”, “Bracelet-gluсometer for diabetics”, “Smart House with voice control”, “Virtual robots-brokers with artificial intelligence “and many others.
Specialty students will receive the following knowledge:  
The content of the courses on training engineers for the specialty “5В071600 – Instrument making” is aimed at full theoretical preparation, inculcation of practical skills and skills in designing, adjusting and assembling devices and means for automating the fuel and energy complex and measuring radio electronic equipment. The disciplines of the courses use methods of mathematical modeling and simulation of real devices and elements, scientific and practical methods of researching instruments and elements of technical devices with the help of software and hardware systems, practical and laboratory studies on real electronic components, debugging and testing boards, industrial measuring and control devices . For example, software and hardware complex DEGEM SYSTEM (Israel); a measuring laboratory equipped with LabView devices and software (National Instruments, USA); Laboratory of electronic systems and radioautomatics based on NI ELVIS (National Instruments Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite); microprocessor classes based on microcontrollers I8XC196RC (Intel) and signal processors based on MSP430 * (Texas Instruments), industrial controllers from Siemens, SCADA – TIA-Portal systems.
Each educational program is equipped with a list of practical and laboratory works implemented on the above modern equipment. In addition, in separate disciplines, to monitoring theoretical knowledge, the implementation of reporting documentation requires the practical implementation of electronic circuits of devices and apparatus. So, for example, in the discipline “Elements and Circuitry of Analog Devices”, coursework is performed in the form of realizing an operating electronic device board. On the course and calculation and graphical works tasks are formed close to the real situations on the above mentioned equipment (industrial controllers Simatic, SCADA – TIA-Portal system measuring laboratory equipped with devices and software-LabView NI ELVIS (National Instruments Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite) signal processors MSP430 * (Texas Instruments).
