The Department of Automation and Control (formerly known as "Engineering Cybernetics") has been providing training in this field for over 35 years since 1988. The recognition of the high qualifications of the faculty and the quality organization of the educational process is evident in the fact that the department currently educates not only the younger siblings of our graduates but also the children of those who completed their studies in automation in the 90s.
The Department of IT Engineering, as an independent structure, was established in 2009. Its initial name was "Computer Technologies". Depending on the tasks facing the department, the name changed, but the demanding and professional approach to training specialists in computer technology, software, and information systems remained unchanged.
Meeting the demands of the time led to the creation of the "Information Security Systems" department in 2014—one of the first in Kazakhstan in this educational profile. Today, it is known as the "Cybersecurity" department. The need for information protection is a crucial task in almost any sphere of human activity related to calculations, data processing, and transmission. The demand for information security professionals is increasing every year.
The main asset of the Institute of Automation and Information Technologies is its unique faculty, where authoritative scientists, practical specialists with extensive experience in major enterprises, and talented young graduates of doctoral and master's programs harmoniously complement each other.
The institute's departments house 27 research centers and laboratories equipped with the facilities of recognized global leaders in automation, computer technology, and IT technologies, such as Apple, National Instruments, Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB, Honeywell, Festo, Cisco, Huawei and others.
Through the academic mobility program, bachelor, master, and doctoral students have the opportunity to study and intern at universities in Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Bulgaria, Turkey, Portugal, Malaysia, Spain, Japan, France, and leading universities in Russia.
A crucial focus of the departments of "Automation and Control", "Cybersecurity," and "IT Engineering" is collaboration with companies, various structures, and manufacturing, where our students have the opportunity to undergo internships with subsequent employment.
